Biography
I studied for my undergraduate MA (Hons) in philosophy at the University of Edinburgh (2002-2006), for my MA in philosophy at Lancaster University (2006-2007) and for my PhD in philosophy at the University of Manchester (2008-2012). My PhD was supervised by John O''Neill and Michael Scott and was titled ''Consumption, Environment and Ethics: An Analysis of Moral and Welfare Arguments for Reducing Personal Consumption''. Between 2012 and 2015 I was a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Manchester as part of the international BIOMOT project, which conducted research into what motivates publics and political actors into action for environmental conservation. My particular research in this project concerned the limitations of the the economic valuation of the natural environment. Since September 2015 I have been a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow, researching the market-based policies and instruments that are increasingly used to achieve environmental goals.
