Background
Pearse Gaffney is a lecturer in the Department of Management Science at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina. He joins the faculty from industry with over 20 years experience in a variety of manufacturing companies. He received his B.S.I.E. at Tennessee Technological University and Master of Industrial Statistics at the University of South Carolina. He is a Ph.D. candidate in Industrial Engineering (Engineering Management) at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Gaffney has worked in several different manufacturing sectors including automotive, industrial equipment and machinery, and most recently nuclear fuel. He has led global teams to implement strategic business change initiatives, with responsibilities in the US, Australia, Thailand, China, Italy and others.
Gaffney is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and recently completed Six Sigma Master Black Belt training. Gaffney’s research interests include lean implementations, six sigma deployments, business transformations and new product introductions.
