Experience

Richard Walsh brings over 20 years of industry experience providing advanced expertise in leadership solutions, organizational transformation and executive coaching. Rich served as a senior executive of strategy, human resources, leadership and organizational development at AT&T, GE and Bull of France. He then served as associate dean of a top-ranked, US business school, where he led a consortium for executive education, and eventually oversaw all external business services including applied research, marketing and media production. Rich founded the consortium for leadership and executive development, and collaborated closely with other top thought leaders such as Ram Charan, John Kotter, Meg Wheatley, Peter Block and James Kouzes. He continues to collaborate with these thought leaders and often consults with senior teams in developing and mentoring talent, blue ocean strategy, growth, mergers and acquisitions and organizational change.

Current Role

Rich serves as a leadership solutions partner at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL). He provides extensive expertise in leadership, transformation, mentoring and coaching. Over his tenure at CCL, Rich performed a variety of roles including lead faculty, executive coach, program manager, portfolio manager and coaching practice leader. He regularly applies his experience in the public and private sectors including: health care, pharmaceutical, financial services, energy, consumer goods, retail, hospitality, manufacturing, high-technology, telecommunications, government, defense, not-for-profit and consulting services. He works with a diverse portfolio of global clients including large, mid-size and high-growth organizations. He is a dynamic trainer, and facilitates a variety of customized and open-enrollment leadership and executive development programs. He often provides executive coaching. Rich quickly builds credibility by applying his industry knowledge, deep technical expertise and cutting-edge learning techniques. He is known for his strong client-focus and strategic-partner orientation. He works with a number of global clients in designing and delivering the most current and practical solutions on such topics as change, influence, executive presence and communications, leading across boundaries, global leadership, talent management, leading systemically, strategic thinking, innovation and leading a function, along with other topics.

Educational Background

Rich earned his BS in Business from Northeastern University, MS in Business & Social Ethics from Harvard, and MBA in International Marketing from both the University of Dayton & University of Augsburg, Germany. He holds a number of professional certifications and serves on several international boards. Rich has authored publications in leadership, talent, coaching, mentoring, accelerating development, action learning, board effectiveness, strategic change and business ethics. Currently, he is conducting cutting-edge research in leading a function within an organization and most recently published a white paper on Leading with Impact: How Functional Leaders Face Challenges, Focus Development and Boost Performance.

Professional Affiliations

Rich serves as an international advisory board member and speaks at national conferences for ASTD, SHRM, Human Capital Institute, ODN and others. He serves on several boards of public and private companies. Born and raised in Boston, he and his family currently live in North Carolina and often travel across the globe.
