Center for Creative Leadership
Experience
Before joining the Center, Sam advanced his experience in student leader development at several institutes of higher education, including UC San Diego, UC Berkeley, UC Los Angeles, and University of San Francisco. His service has spanned the efforts of directing emerging leader programs, developing campus-wide initiatives for student leader development, and stewarding institutional best practices around leadership education. Sam has steered innovations in student development programming, especially at UC San Diego, which have contributed to the way university staff and students align their efforts to bring about greater impacts on their campus and in their broader community.
Sam has over 15 years of expertise designing and delivering experiential learning engagements for college-level students. Sam is faculty within CCL’s Societal Advancement team, which is committed to youth empowerment and educator capacity building. He is also certified in MBTI®, CGE, 4MAT®, PACT®, WPB5®, Organizational Workshop® as well as the suit of assessments covered in CCL’s Assessment Certification Workshop.
Current Role
Sam joined the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC as part of the two-person College & University Programs team in 2014. He currently serves as faculty at the San Diego, CA campus. He supports the Societal Advancement Higher Education portfolio in terms of business development, client management, and leadership solution design and delivery. Presently, he focuses on expanding CCL’s Societal Advancement presence and portfolio work on the US west coast.
Educational Background
Sam holds a B.Sc. in Biology with a minor in Psychology from UC San Diego. He also holds a Masters of Education with foci in Student Affairs and International Higher Education from UCLA, as well as a Masters of Science in Urban Management with a focus on participatory planning from Technische Universität Berlin (Germany).

Sam maintains strong professional networks with Higher Ed faculty and professionals, especially within the University of California system as well as a broad array of professional relations across various sectors across the globe.
