Biography
McCombs School of Business
Shefali V. Patil, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Management and Co-Faculty Director of the McCombs Center for Leadership and Ethics. She studies ways to enhance critical problem solving, especially in uncertain and polarized environments. She is currently working with a diverse set of organizations, including those in consulting, manufacturing, and technology. In the past, she worked with over 15 U.S. law enforcement agencies, the U.S. Army, the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), emergency medical rescue operations, and hospital and physician organizations. Her research has received wide media coverage from both local and national outlets. She has written editorials for The Hill, Dallas Morning News, and The Conversation and conducted broadcast interviews for Fox 7, CBS Austin, KXAN, KLBJ, Texas State Network/KRLD, Utah Public Radio, Texas Standard/KUT, Spectrum News, and Newsy. She received the CBA Foundation Research Award for Assistant Professors.
Shefali is also an award-winning teacher, having received the Trammell Teaching Award for Assistant Professors and three BBA Faculty Honor Roll teaching awards. She currently teaches the Leading for Impact capstone course for all full-time Austin and Dallas Working Professional MBAs in association with the Center for Leadership and Ethics.
She earned her B.S. in Management & Organizations, summa cum laude and Beta Gamma Sigma honors, from the Stern School of Business at New York University, and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Managerial Science & Applied Economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
