Biography

Dr. Tayfun "Typhoon" Keskin is an educator and a researcher. His achievements brought him an international reputation in cloud computing, business analytics, and management information systems. He received his Ph.D. degree from The University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business, following his MBA. He also holds a B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bogazici University.

His main interests include enterprise analytics, cloud computing, internet of things, collaborative information technologies, behavioral modeling, pricing of IT services, cybersecurity, and strategic management of information systems. Tayfun has published several papers in top-tier journals, including International Journal of e-Commerce (The #1-ranked Electronic Commerce journal), European Journal of Operational Research, and INFORMS Journal on Computing (in the UT Dallas list of top 24 business school journals). In addition, he published a book chapter on cloud computing. As far as the long-term research goal, he is particularly interested in developing a quantitative "role of information systems" theory.

He has taught management information systems courses at the graduate and undergraduate level at several institutions, including the University of Texas, and the University of Washington. Specifically, he designed and taught more than a dozen courses including Enterprise IT Management (MBA), Business Process Excellence, and Digital Business Lab. His experience ranges from conventional (face-to-face) conceptual courses, to fully online technical courses.

He has over a decade of professional work and academic experience on various IT-related fields. He worked at Procter & Gamble as a process engineer and at other multinational companies such as Oracle and Kraft Foods prior to his Ph.D.

He received various awards, honors, and best paper nominations. As a recognition of his reputation, he has been invited to chair "Internet of Things" track at the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS). Besides, he is co-chairing the Internet of Things special interest group at the International Society of Service Innovation Professionals (ISSIP). He is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS), and the Association for Information Systems (AIS).
