Zicklin School of Business
Yafit Lev-Aretz is an assistant professor of law at the Zicklin School of Business (Baruch College, City University of New York), and the Director of Tech Ethics program at the Zicklin Center for Corporate Integrity. Professor Lev-Aretz is a tech policy expert with over fifteen years of experience in studying and operationalizing the relationship between law, technology, and society. She has written and published extensively about various tech policy issues including information privacy, emerging financial technologies, algorithmic decision-making, intrusive means of news dissemination, the legal treatment of socially beneficial uses of corporate data, personalized choice architecture, and the ethical challenges posed by machine learning and artificially intelligent systems. Her works appeared in leading academic journals as well as in popular media outlets.
Professor Lev-Aretz was a research fellow at the Information Law Institute at NYU, and an intellectual property fellow at the Kernochan Center for the Law, Media, and the Arts at Columbia University. She holds an S.J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, an LL.M. from Columbia Law School, and an LL.B. from Bar-Ilan University in Israel. Professor Lev-Aretz also serves as a director and an advisor to several private sector companies in an effort to anticipate policy challenges and promote ethical uses of technologies across the board.
